At About Town Driver Education Ltd., we offer a "brush-up" course tailored to your needs. Our instructors will evaluate your driving and work with you to change any techniques that require improvement.

Defensive Driving Course

For the experienced driver wanting to enhance driving skills and to gain back any demerit points (three points every two years) lost through prior traffic violations, etc., we offer this one day in-class course as a refresher.

We presently have four units available for class one and three training.

Class one requires the following:
Class one written test at the Registry … cost is $17.84
Class one medical
Air Brakes course
24 hours of in-cab, one on one with Instrucftor
Driver Examiner. Class 1 written test and medical must be in place before you can go for road test.

We will also be covering such topics as risk identification, collision avoidance, rules and regulations, and the Highway Traffic Safety Act.

Class three requires the following:
Class three written test at the Registry…cost is $17.84
Air Brake Course
15 hours of in-cab, one on one with Instructor
Class 3 driver exam with the Registry. Written must be in place before you can go for the road test.

Air Brake Course

We hold Air Brake course every Friday (excepting Holiday Fridays) in Grande Prairie. Air Brake courses are closed course and require pre-booking. We will be in class until about 3pm and follow up with in-can Air and pre-trip on the truck

*Upon successful completuion of any of the above three course can gain you a certificate to redeem three lost merit points on your license.

Driver Evaluations

We are available for commercial driver evaluations and will supply employers with an Instructor Comments sheet with any suggestions they may have. We can evaluate in your company vehicle or in ours.

We will be looking for driver Habits including speed, space cushion, eye to mirror, shifting habits, couple/uncouple, blind side, 90 degree and straight backing, pre/post trip inspection, any specific
